As you . . . reflect on how you might “pray always,” I’d like to suggest another practice: Ebony Prayer, or praying in bed. Not only can you pray ceaselessly but in all places as well, including the darkness of your sleep. Indeed, while your body is at rest, your soul spends the night in vigil.
One simple Ebony Prayer ritual would be to pause before you get into bed and lift up your pillow; then symbolically place your problem on the sheet beneath it. Lovingly pat that resting place of your problem with a brief prayer-plea that God will chat with your soul as you sleep.
